Meredith College is a private, residential women's liberal arts college and coeducational graduate school in Raleigh, North Carolina, which enrolls approximately 1,600 women in its undergraduate programs and 300 women and men in its graduate programs. The current tagline of the College, “Going Strong,” reflects the positive spirit of the institution, as well as its strengths in student outcomes, financial position, alumnae achievement and loyalty, successful fundraising, and stability of continuing senior leadership. The College is defined by its sense of community; Meredith's passion for developing intellectually, socially, and ethically strong individuals is shared by administrators, faculty, and staff.
The academic programs offered through the School of Education, Health, and Human Sciences are organized into the Department of Education, Department of Human Environmental Sciences, Nutrition, Health, and Human Performance Department , and the Psychology and Social Work Department. Each department has dedicated faculty and staff who see their work as unique but connected in their shared commitment to improving the quality of life through education, health and wellness, social justice, and belonging.
As the chief academic officer of the School of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, the Dean is responsible for the stewardship of the School’s fiscal, human, curricular, and facilities resources. The Dean is expected to trust department heads who know the details and needs of their distinct programs and to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. EHHS faculty are eager to work alongside a Dean who is open to new ideas and willing to partner with them in the implementation of programs. The Dean of EHHS is also expected to collaborate with other divisions at Meredith College in support of the College as a whole. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, collaborative academic leader to guide and inspire the four departments within EHHS.
The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in a field of one of the disciplines in EHHS; academic credentials appropriate for faculty appointment in one of the disciplines in EHHS; academic administrative experience as a department head, chair, or other leadership role; demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion; and familiarity with specialized accreditation requirements and processes.
