The Department of Psychology at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer with an anticipated start date of August 2020. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, nontenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis (August 16th to May 15th) contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach four sections per semester at the undergraduate level in the Psychology Department. Assigned courses will typically include one or more foundational courses (Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Statistics, and Research Methods), along with one or more upper-division breadth courses in the candidate’s area. The successful candidate will join an active, committed group of teaching faculty in delivering high-quality undergraduate courses, and will be expected to participate in service to the university and profession as appropriate. Lecturer positions include the potential for promotion within the lecturer ranks and opportunities for summer teaching.
The requirements for this position include: (1) Ph.D. in Psychology (or closely related discipline) by the time of appointment; (2) 1-2 years of undergraduate teaching experience; (3) and familiarity with “best practices” in undergraduate education.
Desired qualifications include: (1) Training in neuroscience and experience teaching courses with neuroscience content; (2) experience with multiple teaching modalities; (3) professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom; and (4) demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities.
